How to Draw a Duck
In a 2002 study by psychologist Richard Wiseman, ducks were found to be the animals most associated with humor, pranks, and silliness in numerous cultures. It’s no wonder, then, that ducks are among the beloved characters of long-running and entertaining cartoons.
Perhaps the most famous funny duck is Disney’s Donald Duck, which emerged in 1934. The Disney universe is also inhabited by many other duck characters, including Donald’s girlfriend Daisy Duck, his uncle Scrooge Duck, and his friends. Friends. Nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Luis.
Another well-known cartoon duck is Daffy Duck from Looney Tunes, who made his debut just three years after Donald. Daffy has a comic family of equal symbols, including Daphne Duck, Melissa Duck, and Plucky Duck.

Step-by-step instructions for drawing a duck.
Step 1
Start by drawing a circle. This will form the duck’s head.
Step 2
Draw a lengthy, curved line rising down from the ring. It will start at the rear of the duck entrance.
Step 3
Draw another long, curved line extending down from the head to outline the front of the neck.
Step 4
Draw a large oval on the floor of the strait. It describes the wing of the duck.
step 5
Starting inside the wing outline, draw curved lines to detail the wing feathers. For the wingtip, allow the lines to extend past the oval and meet at sharp points. On the underside of the wing, the feathers will be shorter and rounder, with “U” shaped lines.
step 6
Using a series of connected curved lines, extend more feathers beyond the wing tip. This will start to settle the duck.
step 7
Add a layer of feathers to the duck’s chest using short, curved lines that connect at jagged points facing downward.
step8
Enclose the duck’s body by drawing a long, curved line from the duck’s chest to the tail. Add the detail of the feathers under the wing using short, curved connecting lines.
step 9
Start the leg by drawing two short, curved lines from this plume of feathers.
step 10
Use a series of lines in a “U” shape to draw the foot. Extend one toe to the back of the foot using a “U” shaped line and several fingers to the front.
step 11
Draw another tuft of feathers using short, curved lines that meet at jagged points. Extend two short, curved lines down from the strand.
step 12
Draw the second foot similar to the first, connecting and overlapping several lines in a “U” shape.
step 13
Draw the beak. A curved line extends from the face and encloses an irregular shape. Draw a small oval inside the shape to form the nostril.
step 14
Draw a curved line from the bottom of the beak to its side, enclosing the shape of the bottom beak. Draw a curved line inside the bottom beak to detail the mouth.
step 15
Draw tufts of feathers extending from the top and back of the head using short, curved lines connected at jagged points.
step 16
Draw a large circle to form the eye. Inside the eye, draw a smaller circle and a smaller circle inside the smaller circle: shade between the innermost circles to form the pupil. Extend the lashes from the eye using short, curved lines. Draw a looped shape past the eye to start the brow.
step 17
Add feather details to the head, neck, stomach, and wing using short curved lines.
step 18
Color the duck. Ducks can come in many colors; ducklings are usually yellow. Adult ducks can be solid white or mottled in shades of white, brown, black, and even green.
